
Elzarie Barnard is the Liaison Officer for Gender in Science, Technology and Innovation at the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf). She is the secretariat to the Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) South African National Chapter; and GenderInSITE (science, innovation, technology and engineering) activities. She graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PDM) from Wits Business School, and completed an internship at New York University’s (NYU) Center of Multicultural Education and Programmes, and LGBTQ Student Center. She completed a BSc (Honours) in Human Physiology and a BSc in Human Physiology, Genetics and Psychology. She is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Science and Technology Studies specialising in research management and evaluation at the Centre for Research on Evaluation, Science and Technology (CREST), Stellenbosch University, South Africa.
